My name is Adrian Miller, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with my Masters Degree from Chatham University. I have worked with a variety of populations and issues, however, I have particular expertise with individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, addictions, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, self-harm, suicidal ideation and trauma.
I am trained in using EMDR, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness. In therapy, I help clients connect with their bodies and identify the messages their bodies are sending them. Clients will learn to pinpoint their emotions more precisely and to target the roots of their problems rather than just treating the symptoms. My clients and I discuss and practice skills to be assertive. We focus on being self-compassionate and accepting ourselves and our emotions non-judgmentally. We use cognitive behavioral therapy to identify thoughts that are not serving them, and they learn how to dispute them to decrease levels of distress.
In my EMDR therapy, clients work with me to determine current problematic patterns in life and relationships and identify the origin of these patterns. We then use a variety of bilateral stimulation techniques to process the associated memories and learn adaptive ways to manage problems.
I am grateful to have found a job that I love and that is so important. When you are committed, the therapy process can help you transform your life. I will forever be grateful to those who allow me to accompany them on their journey to become the best versions of themselves. I look forward to working with you and starting our therapeutic journey together.
