You are thinking about making a change in your life and are thinking of starting therapy. I am happy that you are considering working with me. I hope to be able to help you accomplish your treatment goals and improve your life as a result of our sessions.
My name is Adrian Miller, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor with my Masters Degree from Chatham University. I have worked with a variety of populations and issues, however, I have particular expertise with individuals and families struggling with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, substance abuse, addictions, grief and loss, self-esteem issues, relationship issues, self-harm, suicidal ideation and trauma. Though I individualize each person’s treatment process, I like to use cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing and mindfulness. I incorporate a variety of other styles of therapy as well.
This is your journey, and I am here to help you. I view therapy as a collaborative process. We will identify your goals and I will help you come up with strategies to reach them. I will listen to you non-judgmentally and use your feedback to direct and focus your treatment. I believe that everyone deals with life’s struggles the best that they can with what they have. Through our work together I hope to provide you with additional tools to use when you need them. I feel that the role of a counselor in someone’s life is very important and I will put in the necessary thought and effort to help you succeed. I look forward to working with you and starting our therapeutic journey together.
