Life Transitions
Victoria Minor is a Licensed Professional Counselor who really enjoys working with clients who are going through a transitional period in their life and want support finding direction. Her therapeutic approach incorporates DBT, CBT, and ACT. Victoria hopes that clients find a sense of direction while working with her. "I want to make my clients feel safe and validated in their experiences. I also want to help clients become more resilient."
Prior to starting at SHC, Victoria worked for 5 years in a community mental health setting both assisting with and running an adult partial hospitalization program for individuals transitioning from psychiatric care at a mental hospital or for individuals trying to prevent hospitalization due to increase in symptoms. She has completed a variety of trainings on different subjects in mental health such as treatment for autism spectrum disorder, nutrition and mental health, and OCD, and is currently working on completing a training about ADHD treatment. Victoria also supports clients dealing with experiences with trauma and trauma-based personality adaptations.
One of Victoria's favorite quotes by Seneca is "If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable."
Outside the therapy room, Victoria has two cats that she loves dearly. She enjoys creative writing and reading, and likes playing video games. She is also really interested in stoicism and taoism—and philosophy in general.
Victoria is comfortable addressing a variety of issues, including issues that seem more concrete and issues that are more abstract (such as existential concerns).
As a neurodivergent individual herself, Victoria is learning and growing every day, bringing personal insight to her therapeutic approach.
She enjoys exploring the impact of cognition on emotions and daily experiences, helping clients understand the connection between thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
