Welcome and thank yourself for taking the steps in order to prioritize your mental health! My name is Amanda, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I am new to the Pittsburgh area yet I have an abundance of years and experience practicing counseling. As a counselor, my goal is to create an environment where you feel both accepted and empowered so you can face difficult challenges throughout the complexity of life. I believe in authenticity and transparency and utilize these values so that we can build a powerful therapeutic relationship together.
In regards to my training and education, I graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s of Education focused on Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings with people of all ages and backgrounds and I’ve found my passion in working with adolescents, young adults and adults navigating through childhood trauma, anxiety disorders, life transitions, and self-identity development. Through my career, I’ve also worked with those suffering from grief and loss, sexual assault, men’s and women’s issues, depression, and body image disturbances and I am clinically trained in Brainspotting Phase 1.
I approach counseling from a trauma informed perspective and pull primarily from Acceptance and Commitment Theory in order to understand behavior and heal underlying sources of pain. I focus on helping clients to identify their values in their journey of self-discovery and create the lives they want to live.
I would be honored to assist you in navigating through all of life’s ups and downs; I leave that decision up to you!
